Hello, I’m Stephen Stanley.

I’m here to listen to you and identify any negative patterns of thoughts, emotions or feelings you may have.

My history

Born and bred in Stratford-upon-Avon, I attended a local primary school followed by King Edward VI Grammar School and Stratford College of Further Education.

I held a number of different roles at the Head Office of NFU Mutual Insurance, over 38 years, before taking retirement. An ongoing interest in the workings of the mind together with the availability of time, allowed me to study towards a role I had secretly desired for years. I am pretty new to this business but already feel like I've been doing it for years.

Other bits about me:

I love sport, especially football and cricket. Mainly watching with my son now, rather than playing, whilst still being able to spoil a good walk by trying to play golf.

I love to travel. Italy and America are my most visited but always looking to find another new favourite!

I'm always reading something, hopefully another Harlan Coben, David Baldacci or Lee Child novel.

I also love walking with my wife and two dogs around anywhere that includes a coffee shop.

My vision

I want to be the person to help you get the confidence you need to be a better version of you…

When things get tricky to handle on our own, talking to someone who has an objective view, someone independent, can be the way through - can help you find clarity in the issues you’re facing. Whether it’s grieving for someone you’ve lost, coping with life’s challenges, or learning more about areas you can improve your relationships - therapy is one way to find peace, and help you live your life to the fullest.

At Think Therapy, you’ll have the benefit of a small practice and individual care and we’ll be able to talk in an environment that’s confidential, calming and comfortable. Think of therapy as a good conversation with a close and trusted friend who is the listening ear waiting to hear all about your worries, while giving you impartial insight and support. That’s what I’m here for.

It’s my job to hear your story, understand your perspective and to guide you through - with respect, dignity and confidentiality. I’ll give you space to be yourself, with no judgement, no criticism - just understanding and empathy.

It’s my goal for you to look forward to your therapy sessions, and see the value of having a trained professional help you in your journey. I’ll help you understand and recognise your own passion, skills and strengths so that when life presents you with challenges, you’ll feel prepared to face them.

I’ll focus on what you feel right now - it’ll give me clues to understand you better, how you cope, and what you might need to heal and grow.

I’ll make what can be a complicated process straightforward and seamless, and hopefully we’ll have a few laughs along the way.

A quick email or a phone call is all it takes to get started…

Your first 25 minute consultation is free - you can decide if I’m the right fit for you.

Call me, we can arrange a coffee and a chat. I’m already looking forward to helping you.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Danny, Stratford-upon-Avon

After a few sessions with Steve I feel back on the right path. He listens to me, with no judgement, and encourages me to challenge the negative thoughts I've had. I've really struggled with my mental health, but feel like I can be completely honest with Steve and not only does he not judge me but he helps me turn my thinking round to more positive thoughts which in turn has really helped my mood. Thank you Steve

CJ, Warwickshire

I've only known Steve for a short period of time, but already I feel a big difference in my behaviour. He's helped pull me out of a black hole and I'll be forever grateful.

AP, Stratford-upon-Avon

Steve's structured therapy sessions have helped me be myself again. I've talked things through with him and now thankfully I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. He encourages me to be myself and he has listened and constructively supported me during my sessions. I'd recommend him to anyone that needs short-term therapy, no matter what your problem.
